Mrs. Luella "Lolly" Oaksford-Morley

August 2, 1928 - September 28, 2020

Luella "Lolly" Louise Oaksford Morley, 92, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Wesley Community Center, Saratoga, NY on September 28th. Lolly is the daughter of the late Willard and Arbutus Waterman Vrooman. She was born in a house on Briggs Street in Johnstown on August 2, 1928. Lolly, as she was affectionately known as; was a graduate of Johnstown High School and a lifelong area resident. She is survived by her sister, Maryland Warner of Johnstown, NY and was predeceased by her brother Bruce Vrooman. She was united in holy matrimony to the late F. Roger Oaksford on August 3, 1947. Their marriage lasted for 52 years until Roger’s passing. Their union was blessed with 5 children, Linda Jurica (John) of Johnstown, Fred Oaksford (Dianne) of Oakfield, NY. Marilyn Dickinson (Mark) of Fort Edward, Wendy Howard (Mel) of Amsterdam, NY and Brian Oaksford (Teresa) of Durham, NC, 5 Grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. On June 19th, 2002 after many afternoon bicycle and canoe rides she and Charles R. Morley, of Caroga Lake, eloped! Together, they enjoyed 17 years of marriage, picnicking, square dancing, parties with friends, and traveling to the North Country each year. Chuck passed away in April of this year. She is survived by two step children from this union, Marsha Parillo (Wayne) and Mark Morley (Teresa). Lolly was self-employed for many years in her home as a ceramic teacher. She taught her wonderful craft for several years to 52 students who adored her. Creating reproduction antique dolls became a later endeavor and great passion. She poured the porcelain slip into molds, fired, then painted the dolls. How she loved her dolls and would sell those that she could bring herself to part with. Her business was called, "Artist Dolls by Lolly" A true artist in her own right, she was renowned for her porcelain dolls and won many awards for her art work and amazing skill. She was also an accomplished ‘tole’ painting artist. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Ehle and Barnett Family Funeral Home,LLC located at 15 North William Street, Johnstown, on Thursday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m. with a brief service to follow. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, NY following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Luella's memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
